Mike Gallo is a solo artist who has made a specialty out of playing small
to medium venues who either don't have a house sound system or want
a band and really don't have the room. Also restaurants and wine bars
who would like a band but want a manageable sound level allowing people
to talk while listening to the music. He does have enough gear though that,
if you want to be loud, he has the potential to rock the house. All with pristine
sound quality he is known for. Even loud, his acoustic guitar is crystal clear.
Mike Gallo's acoustic guitar work is like none you've ever heard. Even his
gentle love songs are laid on a foundation of complex rhythms. Perhaps this
guitar work is what he is most proud of---and you can hear it in his music.
His faster songs rush like water flowing down a rocky creek. His acoustic guitar
sound is exceptional with bass and synth pads adding to the fullness.
On the other hand, he makes his Les Paul cry as he plays over tracks he
previously recorded in his studio. Drums, bass, keyboards and other guitars
lay a groove for him to navigate his way through the song. It is all him though,
all the programming of the drum machine and keyboards, playing bass guitar
and rhythm guitar, and laying background vocals. Mike doesn't hide behind the
tracks like so many "artists" today do. Instead he uses them as a tool to fill a
room with a full band sound with his hand on the volume control. Imagine
having a four piece band tucked in a small corner and being able to talk to
the people around you. Thats Mike's show.
The music in Mike's set is mostly original, sprinkled with songs from some
of his favorite artists---Leon Russell, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, The Doors,
Bread, Carol King and more. Some of Mikes music that you will be impressed
with plus some songs that you'll recognize. Some acoustic, some electric.
Mike chooses to play solo, not because he hasn't received offers from other
musicians, but because by playing alone he can supply venues with a quality
show for much less than a full band and just a little more than they would pay
for karaoke. Restaurants, clubs, coffee shops, special events, private parties
and weddings can now afford live music without having to charge cover or raise
drink prices to pay high music costs.
